Drone Filming with Leica Summicron Lenses

Here at Aerialworx we have lots of experience flying lots of different cameras setups and the Leica Summicron-C range of lenses is no different. Using our Raptor-X1 and Alta 8 heavy lift drones, equipped with the latest Movi Pro, we can fly a range of cameras with Leica lenses. Of course, our favourite camera is our very own @Arri Alexa Mini and equipped with the Leica Summicron-C lenses and Arri WCU4 lens control system, the results are breathtaking. We can fly this setup for up to 15 minutes at distances up to 500m. All this with multiple HD downlinks and full remote control of the camera, lens, focus and aperture.

We use the Leica Summicron-C primes over other Leica lenses, due to the smaller size and weight. These smaller lenses offer the same unmatched optical quality of their bigger brothers but in a much smaller and slightly more affordable package. The smaller size is a huge benefit when using these lenses on a drone as they’re lighter and balance perfectly with the Movi M15 and Movi Pro gimbals.
