Dr Who

Who doesn’t know “Dr Who” ? For those of you who are not science fiction fans… “Dr Who” is a long established BBC drama about an eccentric extra terrestrial Time Lord called “The Doctor” who travels through time and space in a time-travelling space ship solving problems and battling injustice across the universe.

Trust Me, I’m the Doctor… or should it be Trust Me, I’m a Drone Pilot… Yes, as you can see we are hard-core Dr Who fans and when the BBC approached us in 2018 to get involved with this production, we jumped at the opportunity and knew from the outset that it would be hard work and a lot of fun at the same time.

We love our drones and although they’re not quite as technically advanced as “The Doctors” TARDIS, they were ideally suited to the  aerial filming requirements of this project. Our primary role was to capture VFX plates which would later be used by the VFX artists and animators to create the final scene. That said, the drone was an essential part of the production workflow and was also used for establishing GVs and also simple classic tracking shots.

“By using drones that have been custom designed for film and television work, the Aerialworx team are quickly becoming the UK’s number one aerial photogrammetry experts. Using their state-of-the-art 8K RED Monstro and 6K DJI Inspire2, they have captured clean VFX plates and full photogrammetry packages for a number of productions including BBC Dr Who, BBC War of the Worlds, ITV Victoria, BBC The Worst Witch, Macallan Whisky, Motorpoint, Activision Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, BAC Mono and First Trans Pennine Express.

Due for release in mid to late 2019.
